ARTIST GROUPS
The Gallery has several Artist Groups that meet monthly at our location. If you are interested in joining any, please read the descriptions below and hit the buttons to contact their respective group leaders. If you are interested in starting a new club or bringing over an existing club to add to our collection, please contact us!
Whittier Photographic Society
The Whittier Photographic Society is a vibrant community of photographers, ranging from enthusiastic beginners to seasoned professionals, all united by a shared passion for capturing the world through a lens. The Society’s mission is to inspire creativity, expand knowledge, and celebrate the art of photography in all its forms. Members come together to share travel adventures, technical skills, and fresh perspectives, while also working to welcome new voices into the group.
To bring their vision to life, the Society showcases work on a large screen at monthly meetings, hosts an annual photography exhibition at the Whittier Art Gallery, takes part in Whittier’s Uptown Art Stroll, sponsors the engaging “One Day–Weekend–Week in Whittier” Photo Event, and organizes inspiring field trips that encourage members to see the world in new and exciting ways. The group meets on the second Sunday of every month from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Gallery. Please check our calendar for future events!
3 Dimensional Artists Group
The 3-Dimensional Artists Group of the Whittier Art Gallery, founded in 2005, brings together a vibrant community of creators who work beyond the flat surface, exploring the limitless possibilities of form and texture. Members express their artistry through diverse media including assembláge, ceramics, fiber and fabric art, found-object creations, gourd art, jewelry, mosaics, sculpture in a variety of materials, and other captivating works in-the-round.
The Group thrives on connection and creativity, hosting monthly meetings, inspiring field trips, and dynamic exhibitions at the Gallery. Gatherings take place on the third Monday of every month at 7:00 p.m. in the Gallery, offering an open door to anyone who wishes to share, learn, or simply enjoy the energy of 3D artistry. Meeting dates are always available on the calendar, come be part of the experience!
Creative Writing Group
The Creative Writing Group invites word lovers, storytellers, poets, and daydreamers alike to gather at the Whittier Art Gallery for a lively session of imagination and expression. Meeting on the third Saturday of each month from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., this welcoming group provides a supportive space where creativity flows and inspiration sparks new ideas. Each gathering offers engaging exercises designed to unleash your inner writer, whether you’re just beginning your writing journey or have years of experience filling notebooks with stories, poems, or essays. Through fun prompts, group sharing, and encouraging feedback, participants discover fresh perspectives and new ways to bring words to life.
